MEET THE FARMERS
At ERTH Bev Co., we believe in knowing exactly where our ingredients come from—and that means partnering with farmers who share our passion for quality and sustainability.
Steele Apiaries
Steele Apiaries, nestled in Eagle, Idaho, is more than just a beekeeping operation—it's a legacy. Founded in 1980 by Shaun Steele, whose own father was a devoted beekeeper, Steele Apiaries has become a testament to generations of passion for honey and bees. Shaun and his wife, Kris, have nurtured and expanded their family business, now overseeing over 4,000 hives. These hives journey across Idaho, Montana, Oregon, California, and Washington, playing a vital role in pollinating crops and producing high-quality honey and beeswax.
The Steeles' commitment to their craft has been the cornerstone of their success, blending traditional beekeeping methods with modern practices. Their honey, infused with the essence of the diverse regions their bees travel, is a true reflection of their dedication to sustainable agriculture and the environment.
GOLDEN VALLEY VINEGAR
Golden Valley Vinegar, an artisan in the world of vinegar. Nearly five decades ago, Roger Fairchild, the visionary behind Golden Valley, learned the delicate art of vinegar-making from his uncle, L.C. Fairchild. Since then, Roger has transformed this passion into a thriving business in Fruitland, Idaho.
Golden Valley Vinegary is renowned for its organic apple cider vinegar, a product that exemplifies the dedication and skill of Roger and his team. They take pride in sourcing apples from Washington’s finest farms, bringing them to their state-of-the-art facility where they craft raw, unfiltered, and certified organic vinegar that we have the privilege to use in our drinks.
Fiddlers green
Justin, a native Vermonter, moved to Boise in 2009 after working on various organic farms and completing the UCSC Sustainable Agriculture program. In 2011, he started Fiddler's Green Farm, focusing on organic garlic and seed production.
Davis, a Boise native, brings his experience in wholesale flower sales and a passion for growing both vegetables and flowers, especially sunflowers, to the partnership. Outside of farming, Davis enjoys exploring Idaho’s natural beauty through hot springs and camping.
Together, Justin and Davis bring exceptional, sustainably-grown produce to ERTH Bev Co., enhancing our commitment to quality and sustainability.
Waterwheel Gardens
For years, Matt and his Family have planted a wide variety of unique and delicious fruit trees, berry bushes, and colorful, tasty veggies, many varieties that you would never find on a supermarket shelf, in large part due to how perishable many heirloom varieties are. Selling mainly at Farmer’s Markets around the area, allows for what is being sold at the Markets to be harvested just the day before, if not the day of Market!
“Being able to let a Tomato or a Peach (any fruit or berry, really) ripen fully before harvesting, and then offered to the consumer immediately, is a huge part of why local Farmer’s Markets are popular and successful. The ability to meet the producer, and talk directly about their work is another unique aspect of shopping at the Farmer’s Market. It connects customers with their food in a way that you can’t experience elsewhere, and that is an important connection; for the Farmer to motivate themselves when the work gets tough, knowing that people are relying on them for what they will eat next week. And for the customer to know that they’re playing a key role in the farming process. The feedback that I get at the Farmer’s Market has a huge impact in why I do what I do.”
Using sustainable growing practices is another reason why the produce tastes as delicious as it does. Waterwheel Gardens incorporates a lot of compost into the soil for every crop they grow, as well as some cover crops, and lots of crop rotation. Their soil is quite sandy naturally, so it drains well, which is ideal for growing fruit trees, grapes, berries, etc. They also started raising chickens, last year, inspired in part by famous small farmer Joel Salatin. Not only are free-range eggs in high demand and delicious! running chickens through the fields and orchards also helps with some pest control, weed control and fertilization.
Each each ERTH beverage company heads out to the farm to harvest blackberries for our annual Squirrel punch drink.
